High Density Fibre Board for flooring, or HDF, is an engineered product and is made of wood surplus fibre glued together with resin or glue under heat and pressure. It is very similar to particle board but much denser. It has a density of 600-800 kg/m³. It also doesn’t damage or swell easily in high humidity areas like bathrooms or washrooms. These features make it an ideal core layer material for laminate flooring and engineered floors.
HDF board is also regularly used in the manufacturing of furniture, cabinets, wall panels, shelving, storage units, attractive moulding, and doors. Due to its insular qualities in sound and heat, it is also used in auditory enclosures such as loudspeakers and woofers.
